I hope all my US peeps had a great Thanksgiving! We spent the day at my in-laws’ house; it was quite pleasant. I don’t really remember much from the ride home because I was in a pumpkin pie coma. Yes, my MIL’s pie is THAT GOOD!
Things have been pretty hectic around here for the past couple months.
I’m still working on getting my Etsy shop, The Timid Kitty, open for business. I’m also learning to take better photos of my items – I never realized how awful my photography skills were, lol.
This month, I’m working on Christmas gifts (almost no shopping, except for craft supplies), trying to get things ready for Etsy, making time for family & church Christmas activities…and I just remembered that I need to do Christmas cards! ACK!
I’ve managed to set up my new sewing space in the sun room. I’ll try to post pix one of these days 🙂 It’s very cozy, but I definitely need a chair with wheels. Right now, I’m using one of our dining room chairs and it’s just not working well.
Yesterday, I made the first embroidered lace Christmas ornament of the season. It looks black, in the photo, but it’s actually dark purple.
I plan to spend today Cross-Stitching. I might embroider another ornament…we’ll see 😀
Later this month, I’m opening an Etsy shop! I also hope to have my very own website up & running by the end of the year! The shop & website will be called The Timid Kitty, after my very sweet, yet very shy cat, KittyPuff.
In the shop, I plan to sell cross-stitched and embroidered items, handcrafted birdhouses, ornaments, and other things that I find myself creating. I also plan to sell my son’s handmade pens and wands (for all those Harry Potter fans out there). Other handmade items will be added, as they come along.
I’ll keep you posted on my progress toward opening shop. Right now, I have just a few items to list; have to photograph them first and I’m not very good at that (need practice!).
In other news, I just finished stitching my mother-in-law’s Christmas gift. It’s a cute little Furry Tales design by Lucie Heaton. As you all know, I absolutely LOVE her designs 🙂 My mom-in-law saw this as I was stitching it (before I decided who the recipient would be) and was taken by how cute it was. I’m thinking about making it into a little pillow ornament, but we’ll have to wait and see 🙂
(Now I’m going to go put the groceries away!)
Wait a minute! It’s already mid-December!?! Time is moving along too quickly and all kinds of things are coming up to push it along even faster! The church Christmas program is this Sunday evening (rehearsals are tomorrow afternoon)! My son’s 20th birthday is Monday! Christmas is less than 2 weeks away! I haven’t decided what to give my daughter for Christmas! I haven’t decorated AT ALL and haven’t a clue when we’ll have a chance to put up the tree! Christmas cards need to be done! Holy Smoke! I need to get with the program!
Ok…deep breath. I’m much better now.
To be honest, I haven’t really been worrying much about buying a bunch of gifts this year. Most everyone on my gift list will be receiving something created by my own hands – something stitched, canned, or otherwise crafted. A few extra-special people will receive “store-bought” gifts or gift cards. Hubby and I are postponing our shopping until after Christmas, when we hope to buy smartphones (but we’ll see how that works out). Of course, I’ll get a little something for his stocking – his favorite candy, maybe. He’ll most likely do the same for me.
As I think about it, I’m not sure I even want to do much decorating. I’d probably skip the tree, but Daughter would have my head on a platter, lol. Maybe she and her fiance can set up the tree one day next week…
So, December can zip along, but I’m going to enjoy as much of it as I can in the best, most relaxing way possible: cross-stitching! Maybe I’ll even find the time to finish the project I started a couple months ago!
Happy Stitching and Merry Christmas!
I just realized how long it’s been since my last post – too long! I’ve been so busy with Life that I forgot to blog about it!
I managed to complete the 2000-piece jigsaw puzzle that my Hubby & Daughter gave me for Christmas AND the 1000-piece puzzle that my mom-in-law gave me for Christmas. Yes, 2012 was the Year of the Jigsaw Puzzle, LOL. But, they’re both done and now I can go back to stitching, right? Maybe! I really need to get my sewing/embroidery machine out and work up some pretty lace Christmas ornaments and possibly turn a few stitched pieces into pillows and such. The problem is, I’d rather be working on another jigsaw puzzle! I forgot how much I enjoyed them 🙂 I may just dig into my puzzle stash and see what I can find!
In other news, I’ve been applying for part-time jobs whenever I find one that might suit. I hope to find something in the secretarial field. I just applied for a job at the local hospital, which is just around the corner from my house. Fingers crossed!
I’ll try to blog more often about what’s going on around here, stitch-wise 🙂
Stitch Long and Prosper!
